About Thomas
Hi, I'm Thomas Worzella
As a business professional and entrepreneur,
I enjoy most every aspect of creating and operating a business. Especially analyzing, possibility thinking and creative marketing.
Though I haven't attended college in the conventional sense, my studious indulgement in business has educated me well.
I started my first business soon after high school.
I knew it was what I wanted to do, even though I had no real idea just how much of an investment it would be. I'm not talking about the money! I mean investing time, hard work and getting a REAL live education.
I believe it is one of the most educational journeys any person could take. When you learn to work for yourself, you work hard, work smart and learn even faster. I've studied longer and harder than many of my friends who went on to college, and still do to this day. The learning never ends if you want to stay on top of your game. Especially in today's competitive market.
... and you know what? - I wouldn't have it any other way!
Thus my slogan "Staying Plugged In!"
No matter what you do -
love it and do it well.
Who is this kid?
My first business at 21. I put on a suit and tie to peddle products and services to local businesses. When your that young most people look at you like "who is this kid?" He's still wet behind the ears!
It wasn't easy bridging the gap of age and experience. As a young person, especially shy around elders, it was a big challenge. I really had to step out of my comfort zone. It took me a good year or more to overcome most of my fears.
Eventually I gained more experience and confidence. I started using my creativity to gain attention. I found using "sales tools" really made me different than most of my competitors. I sought out quality products and started doing demonstrations, playing show and tell and asking more questions.
Engaging the customer in more conversation took away that uncomfortable feeling. I actually started having fun and was making more sales. A great AH HA moment. Price wasn't the big topic anymore because I was adding value to my products by educating my customers and solving problems. This certainly wasn't new technology, but it was new for me and most sales people weren't doing a good job of it.
Image and Branding:
As I learned more about ways to set myself apart, things got even better and more exciting. Finding companies to "private label" quality products with my company name on them avoided the "apple to apple" comparisons and "what's your price". That was good, but not as good as creating a” private brand". Branding myself, my company and products changed everything.
Now I was creating a whole new image that seemed to give my products the appearance of national brands. My Branded Products boasted instant credibility, and of course I had the exclusive on the entire product line.
That was the begining of my desire to be unique. Oh Yeah!
